Is 29 Collections free to use?
Yes, entirely, and there is no account required to search or to see price history. We are paid by retailers when someone follows a link and buys, which costs the buyer nothing and never changes what we show.
How do you make money?
Affiliate commission. When you follow a link to a retailer and buy something, that retailer pays us a small share. It does not change your price, it does not decide which retailer we put first, and it does not decide what we call a good price. Retailers we earn nothing from are listed alongside the ones we do.
How often are prices updated?
Every day. Each product page shows when its prices were last checked, and the figure is the oldest reading behind that page rather than the newest, because a page is only as current as its stalest listing.
Why is the price here different from the retailer's own site?
Because we record what a retailer showed at the moment we last looked, and prices move between those moments. Always treat the figure here as the last confirmed price, not a quote, and check the final total at the retailer before you buy.
What does the usual price mean?
It is what an item has actually sold for across the period we have recorded it, rather than a recommended retail price or a figure a shop has crossed out. It is the number a current price is worth comparing against, and it is why we record history at all.
Does the price include shipping?
Where the retailer states a shipping cost, we add it and show the total. Where a retailer does not state one, we say so rather than treating it as free. An unknown shipping cost is never counted as zero, because that would make a listing look cheaper than it is.
Why do some items show only one retailer?
Because only one of the retailers we track is currently carrying that exact item, in that colour and that size. We would rather show one honest price than pad a comparison with things that are merely similar.
How do you treat second-hand listings?
Separately, always. A second-hand price is compared against second-hand history and never against the new price, because the saving against a new item is not the same fact as the item being cheap for what it is.
Which countries do you cover?
The United States today. Prices, availability and history are kept strictly per country and never converted between them, so what you see is what that country's retailers actually charge in their own currency.
Do you need my personal data?
No. Searching, browsing and reading price history require no account and no personal details. We record that an outbound link was followed, and from which page, so we know which pages are useful. We do not record who followed it.
